SIM Ultimate’s History
SIM Ultimate was started by a small bunch of disc loving people (Myself, Derek Wong and Phua Wenyao) as an initiative to educate and to enrich the students in SIM of a previously unheard of sport, Ultimate Frisbee. We also wanted to create buzz and life in SIM, which was previously not known for its excellence in sports.
Trainings started out being rather leisure-like and we were seeing numbers fluctuate, sometimes having 5-6 people at trainings. Even then, trainings still went on.
We shared fields with the kind Archers from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, putting our lives at risk with each throw we make. Not only were the fields hazardous, it was small and had poor lightning. Still, we carried on training, with the hope of having enough members to move out into proper fields.
What started as an initiative was soon becoming a revolution. In our 2nd year due to a successful recruitment drive, we saw a steep increase in our numbers and also a strong potential in our new recruits such as Louis ‘Big’ Tng (Captain ‘10/11) and Jerome Yeo ( Vice-Captain ‘09/10). It was not an easy decision, but we took the brave step of moving to greener pastures and training took a steep and rapid change as we decided to go competitive!
No more were we subjects of moving targets for the NP Archers!
No more did we have to squint our eyes as we try to focus our eyes on the poorly lit disc!
No more banging ding dongs at Goal Posts!

No more banging ding dongs at Goal Posts!
SIM Ultimate today has moved from a group of leisure playing members, to a team that has forged strong bonds through friendship, hardship and sacrifice. This is what keeps us strong, and this is why we love playing Ultimate.
Apart from our Competitive trainings, we continue to uphold our goal of educating and enriching the students in SIM by holding weekly leisure training sessions at our new Global Education Campus. It is here where we welcome and make friends with people from all over SIM who wish to learn the sport of Ultimate.
We are currently in our 4th year as a club and we are looking stronger than ever. With a renewal of players who have played in Junior Colleges and in Polytechnics, the Ultimate scene in the tertiary level never looked this exciting. We are looking forward to another good year of Ultimate as we continue to train hard, play harder and make history in our own little way.
Disc is Our Life!
